Midi Organ Factory with Silver Octopus organised a Recital and Open Day at St Oswald's Church, Coney Hill, Gloucester GL4 4LX on 11th and 12th June in conjuction with the Gloucestershire Organists' Assn. The programmel included music by Whitlock, Wesley, Howells, Stanford and Elgar - and English Programme for an English organ.

On Saturday guests were welcome to come and play our four manual console with dual touch screens - and about 4Kilo Watts of sound through an array of speakers including four sub woofers. The Programme for Saturday included a demonstration of sound samples from Silver Octopus and Lavender Audio.

On Sunday the organ was used to accompany the morning service. St. oswald's does not have an organ and the congregation appreciated having this instrument to lead the singing.

Our thanks to the Church Wardens and congregation at St. Oswald's in allowing us the use of their church. Those that heard and played the instrument were delighted with the atmosphere that the church provided.

This is the nave of St Oswald's - the chancel is not used and so the rather imposing alter makes its presence felt. The console is situated to the left with the speakers installed in the chancel and the side chapel. Due to the floor area and the distance between the speakers, wide dispersion of sound has been created.

The side chapel housed the bass speakers and swell. Although six speaker are here, only two stereo channels were used. There were two speakers per bass channel using a crossover network.

And finally, a preview of the unfinished console. It was surprisng the unexpected tasks that became evident in the last week. Next time we expect to be better prepared. Charles (Silver Octopus) is doing the final tonal work.
